My friends in Christ,
The construction of the new Hyland Center continues to progress well. We are having a very wet winter, but the contractors are working hard to finish the building for the fall of 2019.
The concrete slab and foundation walls are complete. The contractors are removing the last bit of formwork and have started installing the steel columns and beams. Last week, the contractors used two 165 ton cranes to set into place the 70,000 pound main beam. This beam will be exposed, with the gymnasium ceiling resting on it, as pictured in the rendering below.
Over the next several weeks, the new Hyland Center will begin taking form as more steel is erected and concrete block walls are constructed. We'll be sharing more panoramic views of the construction site on Google Maps so that you can see the construction progress firsthand and envision yourself in the new space. Click the picture below for the 360 view.
Thank you again for your prayerful stewardship toward our Continue His Mission Capital Campaign. Through your generosity, we reached our $30 million goal at the beginning of December and received the Lettie Pate Evans Foundation grant of $500,000.
We are also grateful for the hospitality and flexibility of our neighbors. I ask that you please help us be courteous neighbors in return by driving slowly in the neighborhood and not blocking any driveways.
I will continue to keep you updated of the progress of the construction and our capital campaign.
